     It was 1978, when I approached the sales clerk at a local department store and made my request: "I need one of those things that holds a baby's bottle while I am trying to drive my car." The clerk gave me a puzzled look, and then said, "Well, I don't believe I have seen such a thing but let's check." My experience was similar at each store I visited. I could not believe that such a needed item was not available! What was I to do? And so through the remaining bottle-feeding months of my son's life I struggled, holding his bottle while driving a standard shift automobile. I even tried the rolled-up-receiving-blanket method. As my baby grew older and could hold his own bottle, it would inevitably end up on the floor (between the seat and car door of course!), or while shopping I would retrieve the bottle from the mall floor or parking lot.
